I recently asked a friend of mine if he had any big dreams for his life, and his answer was “to become rich”.
Now, I bet this might be the answer for most people, but what does it mean to be rich, and does it really matter that much?
What it really means to be rich
For me being rich means:
Being independent in terms of

The money trap
The biggest paradox of life is that we give more value to the things we can replace (materialism) than to the ones we can’t (health, family, and relationships).
Many refer to the money trap as the cycle of debt and financial instability. That is true, but I like to think of the money trap also the other way around: becoming a slave to your own money.
This means always wanting more and never being satisfied. The money trap also involves not having time and location freedom, or both. Be careful and don’t fall for the money trap.
Remember that money solves money problems, and if you have not developed a strong mind you will end up with problems you cannot solve.
How to buy happiness with money
There is no right answer to the question "Does money buy happiness?" Ultimately, you cannot buy happiness. However, you can use money to your advantage. Here's how:
Invest in experiences, not in objects.
Donate to those in need.
Become a minimalist with what you possess.
Key takeaways:
Richness means independence, happiness, and health, not just money.
Don’t fall for the money trap: always wanting more and becoming a slave to your own money.
Money can't ultimately buy happiness, but it can be used to your advantage.
